Energy experts explained how frost affects the supply of electricity

Date:

NEC “Ukrenergo” currently does not impose restrictions on the supply of light on weekends, it is important not to exceed the limits.

Today, January 7, at 11:00 a.m., thanks to the weekend and at the same time holiday, morning consumption in Ukraine is lower than yesterday.

Even with a significant drop in temperature. But during the day, due to increased cooling, the level of consumption also increased. Therefore, to ensure the balance in the power system, limits have been introduced to the regions, which are valid from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Exceeding the consumption limits leads to the application of emergency restrictions. At night, as of today, restrictions do not apply. This was reported in NEC “Ukrenergo”.

“Every -5 degrees outside is +250 MW for consumption. And now the volumes that are provided to the population do not at all give the opportunity to speed up and count on some additional megawatts,” he wrote Serhiy Kovalenko, head of YASNO.

He reminded that local accidents can occur due to frost. Therefore, you should use electrical appliances carefully and do not plug everything into the outlet at once.

We will remind that over the past three months, the energy system of Ukraine has suffered significant damage as a result of targeted massive missile and drone attacks by the enemy.

Damage to generation facilities and trunk networks is complex and large-scale. Their restoration still requires significant resources and time. Emergency repair works are ongoing.
