Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel is partly responsible for the fact that the Russian Federation has turned into an aggressive state.
This was stated by political observer, Deputy Director of the International Institute for the Study of the Consequences of the War in Ukraine Dmytro Galkin (Germany) in ether telethon “Edyny Novyny” on the “My-Ukraine” TV channel.
“Merkel is partly responsible for the fact that Russia has turned into an aggressive state that threatens its neighbors. If it weren’t for cooperation with Germany, if it weren’t for German money, if it weren’t for the endless gas pipelines built by Russia, the supply of hydrocarbons to Europe, then Russia simply wouldn’t have the opportunity to build up its Armed Forces and start threatening its neighbors,” explained the political observer.
He also added that the only responsibility that the former German chancellor can bear for this is only moral and political. In fact, Merkel did not break any laws.
As “We-Ukraine” previously reported, the head of the Bundestag Defense Committee, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, said that she considers former German Chancellor Angela Merkel involved in a full-scale war, which the Russian Federation unleashed in Ukraine last year. Strack-Zimmermann reminded that in 2008 there were many supporters of Ukraine’s admission to the bloc in the North Atlantic Alliance. However, Germany and France opposed it because of their support for Russia.
Moreover, according to her, the former chancellor still defends this decision and believes that she did the right thing. Strack-Zimmermann said that after a full-scale attack by the Russian Federation, the history of Angela Merkel will have to be “rewritten, especially the history of the last few years and complete miscalculations.”
