The bodies of two Ukrainians who were tortured by the Russian occupiers were exhumed in the Kherson region

Prosecutors of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office, together with police investigators and experts, exhumed the bodies of two men who were tortured to death by the Russian military as part of the criminal proceedings.

According to the investigation, the dead were local residents. During the temporary occupation of the city of Kherson, Russian military personnel illegally detained men almost a month apart. They were placed in a temporary detention center, which the occupiers had set up for imprisoning and torturing citizens.

In the course of the pre-trial investigation, the law enforcement officers established the burial place of the tortured men and exhumed their bodies.

A superficial examination revealed signs of numerous injuries, including broken ribs.

Currently, the men’s bodies have been sent for forensic examination.

Under the procedural leadership of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a pre-trial investigation is underway in criminal proceedings on the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder.
