People’s deputies asked the SBU to pay attention to the preservation of the values of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra

Date:

Deputies of various factions asked the head of the SBU to pay special attention of the special services to the preservation and safety of the museum exhibits of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

Parliamentarians turned to head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Malyuk with the caveat that the exhibits (these are museum values) do not disappear during the process of liberating the buildings and premises of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.

It was reported head of the parliamentary committee on humanitarian and information policy Nikita Poturaev (Servant of the People faction).

“A group of people’s deputies from different factions addressed the head of the SBU, Vasyl Malyuk, with a letter in which they asked the special service to pay special attention to the preservation and safety of the museum exhibits of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. In particular, we are talking about relics and other precious and historically significant objects that must be returned to the state,” — informs statement by the press service of the Verkhovna Rada.

It is already felt that a certain social tension is felt around the issue of the release of the Lavra from the UOC-MP.

“In my opinion, Russia will try to resort to provocations and prevent the release of Lavra by March 29. However, as far as I know, our law enforcement officers are ready for this,” the politician said.

Poturaev believes that it is necessary to prepare for the fact that the patriotic public, in particular, war veterans, will come to the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra to support its release from representatives of the Moscow Patriarchate.

The deputy is convinced that Ukrainian civil society is responsible, and law enforcement agencies are competent and professional, so possible provocations will be avoided.
