After the scandal surrounding the national selection for “Eurovision 2022” and Alina Pash, the organizing committee of the competition decided to offer the band Kalush Orchestra to go to an international singing competition.
It just became known that after a meeting of the organizing committee of the national selection and representatives of the Kalush Orchestra, the band agreed to go to the competition from Ukraine. So, now we can officially say that this year at the Eurovision 2022 international song contest, Ukraine will be represented by the Kalush Orchestra with the song Stefania.
“We are grateful to everyone who supported us during the finals of the national selection for Eurovision 2022 and gave us the first place in SMS voting. We promise to every Ukrainian that we will justify your choice. In difficult times for our country, we must once again declare ourselves to the whole world. That’s why we are ready to represent Ukraine in a dignified way in front of all of Europe,” said Oleg Psyuk, the band’s vocalist.
The other day, during a conversation with Serhii Prytula, Kalush Orchestra frontman Oleg Psyuk explained the decision to represent Ukraine at the competition:
“My good performance does not depend on Suspilne, and I am very glad that in Italy Eurovision is organized by Suspilne, not Suspilne, so I will represent Ukraine, not Suspilne,” Psyuk said.
It should be noted that the Kalush Orchestra took second place in the final of the national selection. The team received 14 points – of them the maximum 8 points from the audience and 6 points from the judges.
