Gazprom resumed gas transit through Ukraine to Romania

Date:

The Russian company Gazprom resumed the transit of gas to Romania via Ukraine – for the first time since April, when the transit of Russian gas was redirected via Turkish Stream

About this informs LLC “Operator of the gas transport system of Ukraine” (OGTSU) in Telegram.

“Since the beginning of 2022, natural gas supplies to Romania through the Ukrainian HTS have resumed. This is evidenced by the operational data of the transparency platform “GTS Operator of Ukraine”. Gas is supplied to Romania through the interstate connection point “Orlivka-Isaccia”, the message states.

It is noted that as of January, the reserved capacity of the specified direction is 4.9 million cubic meters per day, that is, a total of almost 152 million cubic meters per month.

After the launch of “Turkish Stream”, the transit of Russian gas to Turkey, Greece and Bulgaria was completely transferred to the branches of this gas pipeline. Accordingly, “Gazprom” began to reduce transit through the territory of Ukraine.

The transit agreement between OJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine and the Russian OJSC Gazprom was concluded at the end of 2019 for a period of five years. It provides for the reservation by Gazprom of capacities for transit in the amount of 65 billion cubic meters. m (178 million cubic meters/day) in 2020 and 40 billion cubic meters (110 million cubic meters/day) in 2021-2024.
