Close the door: in Kyiv, a thief took a bag of money from an apartment

An experienced repeat thief entered an unlocked apartment and took out 80,000 hryvnias.

The crime took place on the street Fortechny utupyk in the Pechersk district. As the Kyiv police said, the thief, realizing that the door was not locked, entered the apartment and grabbed a bag with personal belongings, which was in the corridor near the front door. At that time, the owner of the apartment was in another room. The thief’s loot was 80 thousand hryvnias, documents, USB drives and a folding knife.

Operatives with the involvement of employees of the criminal analysis sector established the identity of the probable suspect. With the help of CCTV footage, the police tracked his movements after committing the theft. According to the provided orientation, the employees of the criminal investigation department detained the perpetrator in the Dnipro district.

He turned out to be a 67-year-old from Kyiv, who had previously been brought to criminal responsibility several times, in particular for similar crimes. During the search, stolen money and things were found at his home. The man was informed of the suspicion under Part 4 of Art. 185 of the Criminal Code. For theft committed under martial law, he faces five to eight years in prison.
