Google launches a “privacy sandbox” in Android

Date:

Google’s new initiative is designed to make it harder to track Internet users, whose data is often collected by third-party companies for advertising purposes. Previously, the “sandbox” function was presented for the desktop version of Chrome, and soon users of Android gadgets will be able to evaluate its work.

According to Android Security Product Management Vice President Anthony Chavez, the “privacy sandbox” (Android Privacy Sandbox) will limit the amount of information transferred to third parties and minimize the sharing of sensitive data between applications.

Google notes that it is impossible to completely exclude advertising “tracking”. However, with the introduction of new technology, data related to the user will be transferred to third parties in a limited amount. In particular, the information needed to serve targeted ads will be stored locally on the device.

Already now, developers can view the initial version of the project and share feedback on the Android Developers website. During the current year, Google intends to release a beta version of the “privacy sandbox” and work on its improvement during the testing process.
