According to the head of the Ministry of Defense, it is not entirely fair to make claims to the state that most of the funding was taken over by volunteers, because their assistance is only 3%.
One day of full-scale war launched by the Russian Federation costs Ukraine at least $100 million. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Defense Oleksiy Reznikov (he resigned on September 4, 2023, — ed.) in an interview “Ukrinform“.
According to him, this is a huge amount paid by the state, so it is not entirely fair to make any claims to the authorities that nothing is being done.
“The day of war costs us 100 million dollars. Now take the budgets of all the great big voluntary foundations, see how much they raise. And a state that spends 100 million dollars per day in total. Just think about it. Therefore, it is unfair to present claims to the state — to the military and political leadership, to everyone — from local leaders to the parliament, the government, the president, that everything is done by volunteers. This is not true,” the message reads.
Separately, the current Minister of Defense noted that if we take the period from February 24, 2022, when the invasion began, then supplies from volunteers make up only 3% of everything that “got into the war.”
Citizens of Ukraine today actually support the army, because they continue to work and pay taxes, which then go to the state budget. From there, the funds are directed to the army.
“The army today is the biggest consumer of funds. But funds are also needed for the maintenance of the country in general: for infrastructure, for reconstruction, for supporting the socially vulnerable. Therefore, you need to work and pay taxes. Businesses need to be active and support entrepreneurs,” Oleksiy Reznikov concluded.

The head of the Ministry of Defense noted that the decision of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi was implemented and he is ready to report to the people. He does not know anything about his possible appointment as ambassador to Great Britain.
