A bilateral agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine should include the issues of sanctions, weapons and finances. There should be a “more powerful” agreement with the United States that will be similar to the “Israeli model”, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi said in an interview with journalist Natalia Moseichuk

“(In agreements on security guarantees, – ed.) There should be sanctions, weapons, finances, air defense, aircraft – the menu is large, but the client is different, let’s say so. There will be a stronger bilateral treaty with the United States, a strong one with Britain. There are states that do not have weapons, but have finances and serious sanctions in case of repeated aggression,” the head of state said.

According to Zelenskyi, the bilateral agreement with the US may be similar to the Israeli model of security guarantees.
“Some people wrote, and they were right, because with the United States, we will probably have just such a model – the Israeli model. Where there are weapons, technologies, training, finances, etc. It seems to be Israeli, but we have a different state and a different enemy,” he said.
To the question of whether these guarantees will continue to apply if the US president changes, Zelenskyy answered: “It will apply, I’m sure. Because these are things that are voted on by the Congress and, accordingly, in European countries are supported by the parliaments of the states.”
In addition, the president emphasized that security guarantees between partners will be effective on Ukraine’s path to NATO: “Then these security guarantees may decrease, someone may refuse for sure, but we need it before the path to NATO.”
He said that the partner countries do not want “to be drawn into the war in Ukraine with their personnel.”
“We don’t need it, and that’s understandable, because it will be a NATO war. This is the third world war,” Zelensky emphasized.
