President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that the country is fully ready for negotiations on membership in the European Union.
“Held several political meetings, in particular regarding the European Union, our integration in this matter. We have to go to the beginning of membership negotiations. Ukraine is fully ready for this. We are doing what is necessary from our side and doing everything possible to ensure that the readiness of the European Union is also complete,” he said in a video message on Monday.
Zelenskyi also spoke against the extension after September 15 of restrictions on the export of Ukrainian agricultural products to Europe.
“There is a very important agreement with the European Commission regarding September 15. This is the deadline for the existence of restrictions on our exports. And we believe that the European side will fulfill its obligations regarding the date when the temporary restrictions will cease to apply,” he said.
“Any continuation of restrictions is absolutely unacceptable and frankly un-European. Europe has the institutional capacity to act more rationally than to close one or another border for one or another product,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
