It became known that births and strokes of the National Health Service will no longer be paid for from state funds

Date:

In 2025, the National Health Service plans to introduce elements of selective contracting. This means that not all medical institutions that meet the minimum requirements will be able to receive state funds for childbirth, heart attacks and strokes.

NSHU will look at other indicators when choosing a hospital to give funds to. The head of the service Nataliya Husak told about it.

Some of the medical institutions that meet the minimum requirements have “nuances”, said the head of the service: “Individuals have 55% of cesarean sections. Am I ready to buy births from them, if I know that they just cut women there? No”.

For strokes, they will look in particular at the indicators of thrombolytic therapy. This is an intravenous injection of drugs that help quickly dissolve a thrombus blocking blood (oxygen) access to a specific area of the brain. The procedure is suitable for 10-20% of stroke cases and saves lives.

“The European trend is 15% of thrombolytic therapy. But we have facilities contracted for stroke, where 0 or 1% of such therapy. I ask: what is the matter? There are many rejections. But, in the end, it is the indifference, unprofessionalism and reluctance of the medical director to form a quality medical service. Should we buy services here, because there is a CT scan, but the doctors do not want to use thrombolytic therapy? Probably not. That’s why we will work here too,” said Natalia Husak.

She assured that it will not create risks for patients to be left without medical care, because there is a formed medical network.
