The White House announced a new aid package for Ukraine

Date:

The US announces a new package of military aid to Ukraine, which includes missiles for HIMARS systems, anti-aircraft interceptors, artillery shells and other weapons, but the amount has not yet been specified, stated White House Press Secretary Karin Jean-Pierre.

“The Biden-Harris administration is announcing a significant new security aid package for Ukraine — while the United States continues to support Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression,” Jean-Pierre said during a briefing Wednesday.

At the same time, the representative of the White House did not name the total cost of the new tranche of aid, but noted that this is the seventh package allocated by the United States after President Joe Biden signed the law with additional funding for national security needs in April. This law contained, in particular, over $60 billion in support to Ukraine.

The spokeswoman clarified that the new package will contain missiles for Ukrainian air defense systems, ammunition for HIMARS, artillery shells and other “critically important means” that will be withdrawn from the US stockpile by the authority of the president.

In addition, the package will include additional funding for the US Department of Defense to purchase new interceptor missiles for the Patriot and NASAMS air defense systems “to help Ukraine protect its troops and cities from Russian air attacks.”

As reported, the United States will soon announce the allocation of $2.3 billion in additional security assistance to Ukraine, which will include anti-tank weapons, interceptors and ammunition for Patriot and other air defense systems, US Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin III said.
