One of the leading experts in digital technologies and cyber security in Estonia, Lukas Ilves, became an adviser to the Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Development of Education, Science and Technology – Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov.
“Plus one cool manager in the team of the Ministry of Digital. Lukas Ilves will work on the implementation of AI and digital reforms”, – wrote Fedorov on Facebook on Wednesday.
According to him, Ilves is one of the leading experts in digital technologies and cyber security in Estonia. Since January 2022, he has been working as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Government of Estonia. For the past few years, he has been managing Estonia’s digital projects.
Among the main areas of work are the safe implementation of cloud technologies and the development of electronic government.
“Now we are joining forces – Lukas Ilves has become my advisor. The main focus of his work will be the future of electronic government: automation of processes, transformation of public service and introduction of artificial intelligence,” Fedorov wrote.
According to him, the Ukrainian government has ambitious plans to become the first AI government in the world.
Last Monday, Fedorov published an announcement on Facebook that he is looking for a Chief AI Officer of the Ministry of Digital Transformation – a deputy who will implement artificial intelligence. Also, people in the AI team.
“The development of AI is our top priority, we plan to integrate it into every branch of the Ministry of Digital Affairs. We have already made a revolution in digital services, and now the goal is to enter the top three countries in the development of artificial intelligence by 2030, and I am sure we can do it,” Fedorov wrote.
He expressed the opinion that AI is a direction that will become fundamental for every industry, a revolution awaits us that we cannot stop, so we must lead it. AI is integrated by governments, businesses work with it, it is implemented in education, medtech, defense-tech, govtech.
