Due to the unprecedented scale of the destruction of DTEK Energo thermal generation from massive Russian shelling, renewable work at the company will last all 2025 and will continue next year.
This was announced by DTEK Energo CEO Alexander Fomenko at a press conference at the Ministry of Energy following the results of the autumn-winter period (RAM) on April 9.
“Thanks to the coordinated work, we have already passed three difficult winters, but we should not expect the next one will be simple. Therefore, we are working on preparing for it now. It should be understood that the extent of firing destruction is still enormous. Therefore, the recovery will continue and all this year and later,” he said.
According to CEO, in 2024, before the start of the heating season, the company suffered 10 massive attacks, which caused tremendous destruction of equipment, buildings and structures. The shelling was damaged or destroyed by 90% of DTEK Energo generating capacity. In general, nearly 4,000 energy and repairmen of the company were involved in the elimination of mass attacks and restoration work last year. Thanks to their operational work on the eve of winter, more than half of the lost. However, new strikes in November -December 2024 have caused significant destruction of already restored equipment.
In addition, Fomenko recalled that due to hostilities, the company lost control of Kurakhiv TPP in addition to the Lugansk and Zaporizhzhya TPP in 2022. However, the energymen managed to dismantle and transport the basic equipment of the Kurakhiv Station in a timely manner – it is currently used in the restoration of other TPPs and allowed to support their operation during RAM.
The head of DTEK Energo emphasized that the main thing was and remains – these are people, the daily work of thousands of energy. He gave examples of energy power plants and power grids, which, despite shelling and danger, eliminated fires, rescued critical equipment, carried out repair and restoration work.
According to DTEK, since the beginning of a full -scale war, 76 energy power plants of DTEK Energo and DTEK Networks were injured in the performance of their professional duties, 6 died.
In 2024, the Russian Federation made 13 massive attacks on Ukrainian energy, causing a serious blow to DTEK Energo thermal power plants. In general, since the start of the full -scale invasion of the company, the company has been attacked by the enemy 205 times.
For the preparation and passing of the heating season of 2024/2025, DTEK ENERGO invested UAH 3.6 billion last year in the restoration of TPP and another UAH 7.5 billion – in Ukrainian coal production.
