The search for premises for the organization of pharmaceutical warehouses in the frontlines remains one of the main challenges in providing medicines for the inhabitants of these teriters, said Irina Gab Pharmaceutical Pharmaceuticals in Ukraine.

“Among the main challenges faced by our organization are the search for premises for pharmaceutical warehouses that would meet the necessary safety conditions and provide proper storage of medicines. Many medicinal products require storage in refrigerators, so switching off electricity and attack on energy infrastructure.

GAB noted that MSF works along the entire front line: in Donetsk, Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson and Mykolaiv region, our mobile clinics operate in these territories and the MSF emergency care teams operate. So doctors, nurses and pharmacists of the organization are constantly analyzing the situation with the provision of medicines.

“When we come to frontier communities, we see that many medical institutions and pharmacies are destroyed as a result of hostilities – partially or completely. Access to vital services and medicines for people who remain in these communities, remains extremely limited. That is why after examination therapist is prescribed. etc. ”, she said.

Gab emphasized that “it is especially difficult for elderly people who do not dare to evacuate because they do not want to leave their homes and the land on which they lived for decades.”

“They are forced to survive under constant shelling, without being able to get to the pharmacy or outpatient clinic in time. Our mobile clinics come to such settlements near the front line, and after medical examination provide the necessary medicines. We recorded complex cases where people with epilepsy, dietary, dietary. They could not get them, ”she said.

GAB noted that in 2024, MSF was handed over to Ukrainians through mobile clinics, emergency care services, as well as in the form of donations for medicines in the amount of almost EUR0.5 million.

According to GAB, in the first days of the war it was critical to help the Ministry of Health to establish logistics chains of medicines. Many routes were then blocked due to active fighting, so MSF organized the supply of medicines from Brussels (Belgium), where one of the Operation Centers of Doctors without borders is located, as well as delivered ambulances and mobile clinics from Brussels and other operating center in Geneva (Swiss).

She emphasized that “there are practically absolutely safe territories in Ukraine – rocket and drone attacks are taking place throughout the country.”

“That is why we are trying to disperse medicines and not store everything in one place to avoid the risk of complete loss. We are currently working mainly with foreign medicines, with reliable suppliers that meet high European quality standards. It is critical to us all the drugs that we have.
