The popularity of Ukrainian cinema is growing. The most watched polls

Date:

The most popular Ukrainian film in the last year was “Mavka. Forest Song”

Research company Gradus Research conducted a survey in April to find out whether interest in Ukrainian cinema increased after the start of the full-scale invasion.

According to the results, if earlier only 29% of Ukrainians regularly watched Ukrainian films, now their number has increased to a third (33%). And only 14% declare that they are not interested in Ukrainian cinema.

Most often, Ukrainians choose online cinemas and streaming services – such as SweetTV, Netflix and others. As many as 61% of those interviewed were such.

At the same time, the older audience (aged 55-60) chooses television for watching movies. This share is 56% of respondents.

Only 14% of respondents go to offline cinemas, which can be explained by both the difficult security situation in the country and their lower availability

“We see that the viewership of films is greatly influenced by where they are shown. After all, online cinemas, television and offline cinemas have radically different levels of accessibility. However, we can unequivocally state that audience interest in Ukrainian cinema is growing,” Yevgenia Blyzniuk, sociologist, founder and director of the research company Gradus Research, noted.

The most popular Ukrainian film in the last year was “Mavka. “Forest song” – 32% of respondents watched it.

In addition, the following films are also in the top:

  • “Sniper. White Raven” (17%),
  • “Stars by exchange” (13%),
  • “Real Santa” (11%)

The survey was conducted on April 13-14 by the method of self-completion of a questionnaire in a mobile application among 1,240 respondents aged 18-60 who live in settlements with more than 50,000 inhabitants.
