A meeting with the heroes of the legendary musical “Fiddler on the Roof” will take place in the Kyiv museum

Residents of the capital will be able to communicate with the characters of the play.

On April 21, the Sholom Aleichem Museum will host a creative meeting with the stage director and main performers of the legendary musical “Fiddler on the Roof” National Operetta of Ukraine.

“There are many great musicals in the world, but the most human story was told by Jeremy Bock and librettists Joseph Stein and Sheldon Harnick. Based on Sholom Aleichem’s story “Tevye the Milkman”, they created a performance that resonated in the hearts of millions of viewers of various nationalities and religions, embodied the Chagallian image of Skripal in musical history,” the Museum recalled.

“Fiddler on the Roof” — a musical that is among the top five in the world. In almost nine years, it was performed on Broadway more than three thousand times, and in 1965 the play received nine of the most prestigious theater awards, “Tony”.

People’s Artist of Ukraine Bohdan Strutynskyi recreated the original direction and production by Jerome Robbins in 2018 at the Kyiv National Operetta Theater for the Ukrainian audience. It is he who will tell about the process of staging the legendary musical on the capital’s stage.

The meeting will be attended by:

  • People’s Artist of Ukraine Bohdan Strutynskyi, director — artistic director of the National Operetta of Ukraine, stage director of the musical “Fiddler on the Roof”;
  • People’s Artist of Ukraine Oleksandr Bilozub, production designer;
  • People’s Artist of Ukraine Mykola Butkovskyi, Tevye-Molochar;
  • People’s Artist of Ukraine Iryna Lapina, Goldie, wife of Tevye the milkman;
  • Honored Artist. Ukraine Halyna Gregorchak-Odrynska, Tseytel (daughter);
  • Oleksiy Kirillov, Motl, fiance Tseitel.

During the meeting, a photo exhibition dedicated to the play will be presented, which will be on display until May 21.
