On the facade of Kyiv’s oldest cinema “Ekran” in Sviatoshyn district, a patriotic wall painting called “Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary” appeared. The author of the project Kyiv-based photo artist Yevgenia Fullen in a comment to “Evening Kyiv” he says that the cinema was painted for two reasons.
“First of all, the cinema is in a bad condition. And we, as caring residents of the capital, wanted to make it a little better. That is why we set about creating a mural on the facade of the Screen.
Secondly, the cinema is located near the Zhytomyrska metro station, where there is a large transport interchange: metro and buses. Military personnel often come and go from front to front here. Therefore, we wanted the defenders to see our gratitude to them on the mural and to know that we believe in them and are waiting at home!” – comments Yevgenia.
The wall painting depicts a modernized Protection of the Holy Mother of God, which covers Ukrainian defenders from bullets and danger with its wings. At the same time, black storks fly in the sky, according to the author, these are the souls of fallen soldiers. To the right of the mural is the legendary phrase of Stepan Bandera: “And the time will come when one will say: “Glory to Ukraine!”, and millions will answer “Glory to the heroes!”.
Currently, the artists continue to work on the mural. They will need a few more days to finish the work. By the way, artists paint at their own expense. You can financially help volunteers with the purchase of paint by calling: 5168 7450 3171 2216, in the name of Yevgenia Kozlova.
Earlier, the journalist of “Vechirnyi Kyiv” talked about the murals of Yevgenia Fullen. In particular, she and a team of artists created a mural about domestic violence in the Darnytsia district. And on the facade of the Children’s Boarding House in the Svyatoshyn district, a real fairy tale was depicted.
