Date:

A resident of the Kyiv region will spend seven years behind bars for a robbery attack on an elderly woman.

The event took place in the village of Salivonka in Bylotserkiv Oblast in June 2020. As the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office said, the convict and an accomplice sneaked through the window to the house of an 84-year-old pensioner in order to make money. They beat the grandmother until she lost consciousness, after which they stole money and jewelry from her house.

The police searched for and detained one of the attackers. The prosecutors of the Vasylkiv department of the Obukhiv district prosecutor’s office proved his guilt in court. For robbery combined with house breaking (Part 3 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code), the attacker was threatened with up to 12 years in prison, however, the court chose the man’s minimum punishment provided by the sanction of this article — seven years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Regarding another participant in the crime, the materials were allocated to a separate proceeding, he is currently wanted.
