Whole chicken baked with apples in the oven is a very famous dish. And it is not surprising – the soft juicy meat, complemented by the sweet and sour taste of apples, and the crispy crust make chicken baked with apples incredibly beautiful and tasty treat.
Ingredients for chicken in the oven with apples:
- Chicken – 1 pc. (chilled carcass)
- Apples – 5-7 pcs. (green)
- Sour cream (mayonnaise) – 100 g.
- Garlic – 2 cloves
- Salt – to taste
- Pepper – to taste
- Herbs and spices – to taste

Cooking chicken in the oven with apples:
Step 1: Prepare the chicken
Peel the garlic and press it with a press. Mix it with pepper, salt and herbs. You can choose herbs and spices to your taste or use ready-made mixtures from the store. Approximate composition of spices: thyme, rosemary, basil, red pepper, cloves, marjoram.
Use chilled chicken, wash it thoroughly in cold running water. Cut off all visible fat from it. We rub it inside and out with a spicy mixture, and then generously coat it with mayonnaise or sour cream.
Step 2: Stuff the chicken with apples
Apples must be washed and scalded with hot water. Cut the apples in half, cut out the core with seeds and cut into large pieces. We stuff the chicken’s belly, trying to fit the maximum amount of apples into it. We lay out pieces of apples from the side of the neck.
Now we sew up the hole, piercing the skin with a thick thread for darning, inserted into a large strong needle. We leave the long ends of the thread so that it can be easily removed afterwards. We also tie the legs with a thread. This is necessary in order for it to bake evenly.
Leave the chicken half an hour, so that it is soaked with spices.
Step 3: Bake the chicken with apples
We heat the oven until 180 degrees and put an oiled baking sheet with chicken there. During baking, periodically sprinkle the chicken with melted fat – this will prevent the chicken from drying out, and will also give it a beautiful golden crust. Baking time depends on the size of the chicken, on average it takes 1.5-2 hours. By half an hour until ready, put apple slices on a baking sheet with chicken and bake.
Step 4: Serve the baked chicken with apples
Put the chicken on a plate, pull out the threads and decorate with baked apples and flowers cut from tangerines. We cut the chicken right on the table and put it on the plates together with the apples.

Advice:
– When sewing the chicken, make large stitches, so it will be easier to remove the threads.
– Apples are better to take sour varieties.
– You can check the readiness of the chicken by piercing it with a toothpick – if it easily enters the meat, and the juice is clear, the chicken is ready.
