On April 5, a meeting of the delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, which included representatives of the group of interparliamentary cooperation with Serbia, took place in Skupshtina, Serbia. Visit of Ukrainian parliamentarians organized on the initiative of Serbian deputy A. Olenik, who is a member of the group of Serbian legislators on cooperation with Ukraine.

The meeting was attended by the chairman of the friendship group of the Serbian Parliament, MP M. Dretsun and the secretary of the group T. Kijanovych.

The Ukrainian delegation was represented by the People’s Deputy of Ukraine, the President’s representative in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine F.Venislavskyi, people’s deputies I.Kopytin, I.Gerasimenko and the Ambassador of Ukraine to the RS V.Tolkach.

The Serbian side was informed about the situation in Ukraine in the context of ongoing Russian aggression. Representatives of the Ukrainian Parliament expressed their gratitude to Serbia for the support and provision of humanitarian aid during these tragic days. Proposals for further cooperation of legislators from both sides and continued cooperation, in particular in a multilateral format, were discussed.

Words of support and solidarity with Ukraine were voiced in the speech of the head of the inter-parliamentary friendship group, M. Dretsun, who emphasized unwavering support for the Ukrainian people, territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine within internationally recognized borders. He assured those present of Serbia’s unchanging intentions and determination to continue providing the necessary assistance to the Ukrainian people in these tragic times.

A separate meeting was held with MP A. Olenik, who visited Ukraine in the fall and had the opportunity to see for himself the horrors of Russian aggression against our country.

All participants of the meeting expressed special thanks to the professionalism of the employees of the Russian Embassy in Serbia, and especially to Ambassador Volodymyr Tolkach.
