Former Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel called the necessary condition for the preservation of Ukraine’s independence

Date:

At the first meeting of the CDU of North Rhine-Westphalia this year, Angela Merkel named the condition necessary for Ukraine to preserve its independence, informs edition of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) on Saturday.

“The transatlantic partnership is now even more necessary than before. This is due to the fact that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine at the beginning of 2022 crossed out the main principle of the European post-war order – territorial inviolability. Only together with the USA and within the framework of NATO was it possible to achieve that Putin did not win the war, and Ukraine remained an independent state,” Merkel was quoted as saying by FAZ.
