Given the circumstances, the Ukrainian national team showed a phenomenal result at the 2024 Paralympics – Bidny

Date:

The Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, Matvyi Bidnyi, believes that, given the circumstances of the war, the Ukrainian national team showed a phenomenal result at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris (France).

“Our Paralympic team is quite successful in principle. This is not the best result in recent times. But taking into account the wartime, taking into account what is happening in Ukraine today, of course we pay tribute to our athletes, our Paralympians, who, despite everything, showed a phenomenal result,” Bidny said on the air of the national telethon on Monday.

The minister emphasized that Ukraine once again managed to surprise the whole world.

He thanked the athletes and coaches for the achieved result.

The 2024 Summer Paralympic Games lasted from August 28 to September 8 in Paris (France).

The Ukrainian national team finished the Games with 82 medals (22 gold, 28 silver, 32 bronze) in seventh place in the medal count and in fifth place in terms of the total number of awards.

At the previous Summer Paralympics 2020 in Tokyo (Japan), held in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ukrainian national team won 98 medals (24 gold, 47 silver and 27 bronze medals), taking sixth place overall.

During independence, Ukrainian para-athletes took part in eight summer and seven winter Paralympic Games and won a total of 695 medals (554 at the Summer Games and 141 at the Winter Games).
