In Cherkasy, the police arrested a man who set fire to his neighbors’ car.

Date:

The police received a report about the fire on Gogol Street in Cherkassy the other day. The team of the State Emergency Service and the investigative-operational group of the Cherkasy District Police Department immediately went to the scene of the incident. Rescuers quickly extinguished the burning Skoda Octavia, and the police inspected the scene. Law enforcement officers seized material evidence and recordings from video surveillance cameras.

After studying the received evidence, criminal investigation operatives established that the only probable cause of the fire was arson of a car, and that a man who probably lives in the same house was involved in the crime. With the help of a service dog, law enforcement officers carried out operational and search measures. When the dog led to the door where the intruder lived, special forces entered the apartment.

The offender was detained in procedural order. A 36-year-old local resident was placed in a temporary detention center.

Criminal proceedings have been opened for this fact. In agreement with the Cherkasy District Prosecutor’s Office, the detainee was informed of the suspicion of committing a crime.

Currently, the suspect has been placed under 24-hour house arrest for 60 days.

The sanction of the article provides for deprivation of liberty for a period of three to ten years.
