Prosecutors of the Chernihiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office sent an indictment to the court against a military serviceman of the aggressor country for violating the laws and customs of war (part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, at the beginning of March 2022, a private of the Russian Armed Forces, armed with an automatic firearm, together with other military personnel invaded the territory of a private household in the village of Berries A couple with a young child lived there.
Threatening to use weapons, the victims were taken to the yard for further transportation to the basement of the local school.
After that, the accused fired shots from a Kalashnikov machine gun at the woman’s feet in front of her son and husband, imitating her execution, in order to intimidate her. With such actions, the serviceman committed torture and caused considerable moral suffering to the victims.
After the abuse was over, another soldier took the family and placed them in the basement of the school, where the village population was kept as a “human shield”.
A serviceman of the Russian Federation can be punished with up to 12 years of imprisonment.
