In Kyiv, a lawyer who spied for the Russian aggressor was informed of suspicion.

Date:

Under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the lawyer was notified of suspicion of treason.

According to the investigation, the suspect is a former employee of the prosecutor’s office who failed the certification and was dismissed from the prosecutor’s office in 2021. Currently, he is practicing law.

The suspect, recruited by the Russian Federation, collected information about strategically important military facilities and modern weapons of the Armed Forces. In the future, he had to hand it over to his curators – representatives of the special services of the Russian Federation.

For this, in the future, the suspect planned to take a leadership position in the law enforcement agencies of the city of Kyiv created by the aggressor state, which, in his opinion, was supposed to be occupied by Russian troops.

In order to collect information about the deployment locations with the coordinates of the bases, in particular, the American reactive artillery systems “HIMARS”, the suspect involved his acquaintance – a former serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. For such data, the lawyer promised him a reward of 5,000 to 10,000 US dollars and a position in the law enforcement agencies of the occupiers. The former military officer could receive a reward only after the destruction of the equipment by the aggressor state.

The law enforcement officers exposed and detained the lawyer after handing him simulated specially made maps with the coordinates of the location of missile systems and a video of the movement of military equipment.

During a series of searches, maps with coordinates, a mobile phone with evidence of criminal activity were seized.

Currently, the issue of choosing a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention without determining the amount of bail is being resolved.
