Latvian Prime Minister Arturs Karinsh arrived in Kyiv

Date:

The main purpose of the visit is likely to be negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.

On the morning of March 16, Prime Minister of Latvia Arturs Karinš came to the capital for a visit.

As the mass media reported earlier, the prime minister advocated the start of negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union this year, even if hostilities are still ongoing.

“Firstly, because it will help strengthen the morale and determination of the Ukrainian army and people not to succumb to Russian aggression. Secondly, the start of negotiations will strengthen the purpose and pace of the necessary reforms that Ukraine, like any other candidate country, must undergo in order to obtain the right to join the EU. And, thirdly, the result of Ukraine’s successful application for joining the EU will add the necessary strength and economic potential to our common market. A win for everyone,” commented Karinsh.

At the beginning of March, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres visited the capital. Then he arrived for negotiations with the President of Ukraine regarding the continuation of the grain agreement.
