Multiple citizenship law defines countries whose citizenship is incompatible with Ukrainian – People’s Deputy

Date:

The Multiple Citizenship Law is defined by countries whose citizenship is incompatible with the Ukrainian, the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy Yevgeny Kravchuk (faction “Servant of the People”) informed.

“The law clearly prescribes which countries cannot be combined with multiple citizenship. That is, not only Russia and Belarus, it is also countries that do not recognize the territorial integrity of Ukraine, did not vote for the UN resolution in 2022… Eritrea, North Korea, that is, the Allies of the Russian Federation.

According to Kravchuk, the Cabinet of Ministers should determine the list of countries with which countries a citizen of Ukraine has the right to have multiple citizenship.

She noted that it is a matter of the European Union, a large seven.

Kravchuk noted that the Law on Multiple Citizenship does not contradict the Constitution of Ukraine, where there is an article on a single citizenship, because “in the territory of Ukraine we perceive a citizen of Ukraine and no matter how many passports he has”

“In Ukraine, he has rights and responsibilities as a citizen of Ukraine. Other passports do not influence it. That is, the only citizenship in such interpretation,” Kravchuk emphasized.

According to the People’s Deputy Volodymyr Vyatrovich (faction “European Solidarity”) the Law on Multiple Citizenship will help to correct the demographic situation in Ukraine.

“A state policy is needed to remedy the demographic situation. This is what this law is aimed at this, which will allow Ukrainians who are now outside Ukraine, which, unfortunately, consider the possibility of maintaining other citizenship, not lose Ukrainian citizenship. Do not lose communication with Ukraine,” Vyatrovich said.

He is convinced that this law creates the opportunity to return part of Ukrainians who left the country from the war to Ukraine.

“It is equally important that this law enables the Ukrainian state to continue working with these Ukrainians, who are now outside Ukraine,” the People’s Deputy emphasized.

As it was reported, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law on multiple citizenship on Wednesday.
