Obama and his wife publicly supported Harris in her bid for the US presidency

Date:

Former US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle announced their support for the candidacy of Vice President Kamala Harris for her participation in the 2024 presidential election.

“We couldn’t be prouder than now to say that we support you and that we will do everything to see you win the election and move into the Oval Office,” Obama said in a video recording of Harris speaking with him and his wife.

“Michelle, Barack, this means a lot to me. I look forward to working with you on this matter,” Harris replied.

The day before, NBC reported, citing sources, that Obama and Harris have been in active communication since she announced her intention to run for the presidency. Obama offered Harris his advice on how to win the election, considers himself a source of objective criticism for her.

Earlier it was reported that the National Democratic Committee of the USA adopted the regulations that will allow Harris to officially become a presidential candidate from the Democrats by August 7, that is, before the party convention, which is scheduled for August 19-22 in Chicago. Voting for nomination candidates will take place from August 1 to 7 using electronic ballots that will be sent to congress delegates.

However, CNN reminds, Harris has not yet chosen a potential vice presidential candidate. The campaign headquarters is conducting one of the fastest campaigns in recent US history to find such a candidate, with the goal of announcing his name by August 7.
