The Security Service eliminated another corruption scheme for evasion of mobilization and illegal travel abroad, in which the head of one of the capital’s diagnostic medical centers and an official of the local military commissar were involved.
About this reported SBU press service.
It is noted that for bribes, the criminals “helped” conscripts to avoid conscription on the basis of fictitious health documents.
“For this, the medical center official sent her accomplices from the local military medical commission false conclusions about the state of health of the evaders. The cost of such “services” was 11,000 US dollars per “patient”. The participants distributed the received sums among themselves,” the SBU notes.
According to the investigation, the officials engaged an acquaintance as an intermediary to transfer the bribes.
In the course of searches at the residence and work addresses of the persons involved and in their cars, large sums of money were found, as well as phones, seals and documents with evidence of criminal activities.
On the basis of the collected evidence, the officials of the diagnostic medical center and the Military Commissariat, as well as their intermediary, were notified of suspicion under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 2 of Art. 28 (commitment of a criminal offense by prior conspiracy by a group of persons);
- Part 1 of Art. 114-1 (obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations);
- Part 3 of Art. 332 (illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine).
- “Currently, all three defendants are in custody without bail. An investigation is ongoing to bring to justice all participants of the scheme, in particular the leadership of the military commissions and military medical commissions involved in the case,” the SBU emphasized.
- They added that the perpetrators face up to 9 years in prison with confiscation of property.
- Previously, the Security Service and the State Security Service collected the evidence base on the head of the military medical commission of one of the districts of the Kyiv region, which is involved in systemic corruption during mobilization. She “wrote off” fifty evaders for more than UAH 10 million in bribes.
