Sandu leads the rating of potential candidates in the presidential elections of Moldova, which will be held on October 30, poll

Date:

The current president of Moldova, Maia Sandu, leads the rating of potential candidates for the elections to be held on October 30, according to the results of a sociological survey presented at a press conference on Tuesday.

According to the results of the survey, if the presidential elections were held next Sunday, 30.3% of respondents would vote for Sanda, 13% for the head of the Socialist Party, Igor Dodon (who has already announced that he will not run for office); 6.5% – for the leader of “Our Party” Renato Usatoy; 5.6% – for the former Bashkan of Gagauzia Iryna Vlach; 5.4% – for the mayor of Chisinau, Ion Cheban, who, like Dodon, declared that he did not intend to run for office.

Almost one in five respondents said that they have not yet decided who they will vote for. If we take into account only voters who have decided, then 39.3% are ready to vote for Sanda, 16.9% for Dodon, and 8.5% for Usatoy.

Former prosecutor Oleksandr Stoyanoglo, whom the Socialist Party decided to nominate as an opposition candidate, according to the survey, won 1%.

“Stoyanoglo recently announced his intention to run for office. He was not included in the list of candidates for the post of president, and this 1% are those who named Stoyangolo independently. It is possible that Stoyanoglo’s rating may be significantly higher now,” said Vasyl Kantarzhi, director of the sociological company CBS-Reserarch.

Speaking about the level of trust in politicians, he noted that to an open question about trust in politicians, 21.3% of respondents named Sanda, 7.2% – Dodon, and 4.6% – fugitive oligarch Ilan Shor. They are followed by the head of “Our Party” Usatiy (3.3%) and the mayor of Chisinau Cheban (3.2%).

At the same time, 38.2% of respondents answered that they do not trust any of the politicians.

The survey was conducted by CBS-Reserarch on behalf of the Institute of European Policies and Reforms. The survey was conducted from June 28 to July 18 with the participation of 1,119 people. The error is 2.9%.
