The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine proposes to the Verkhovna Rada to strengthen responsibility for illegal influence on the results of sports competitions.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the government has supported the draft law on amendments to the Criminal Code of Ukraine to increase liability for illegal influence on the results of official sports competitions.
In particular, the draft law proposes to significantly increase fines from 1 to 5 thousand tax-free minimum incomes of citizens or restriction of freedom for a period of up to 3 years for offenses related to the results of competitions.
Also, for the unauthorized use of exclusive sports information, a fine of 5 to 10 thousand non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens or restriction of freedom for a period of 2 to 5 years is provided.
“The law will contribute to the elimination of conflicts and gaps in the Criminal Code of Ukraine in terms of responsibility for unlawful influence on the results of sports competitions,” the ministry believes.
