At its meeting on Thursday, January 12, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the law “On Amendments to Subsection 8 of Chapter XX of the Tax Code Regarding the Prohibition of Gambling Businesses on the Simplified Taxation System.”
303 People’s Deputies voted for the adoption of the corresponding draft law No. 8079 in the second reading, Yaroslav Zheleznyak, deputy from the “Holos” faction, first deputy head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Tax and Customs Policy, reported in Telegram.
The law cancels the norm adopted in mid-April last year, which allowed the gambling business to switch to a simplified taxation system, paying only 2% of the single tax.
“In the final version, it enters into force immediately and from the next day the entire gambling business must switch to the full tax rate,” Zheleznyak noted.
As reported, according to the deputy, during the existence of the preferential 2% tax, the gambling business and lotteries that used itpaid only UAH 53.6 million in taxes.
