The Ministry of Economy records a shortage of personnel in all sectors – Deputy Minister Berezhno

Date:

The shortage of personnel is observed in all spheres and, according to surveys, this is the main problem of business now, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Tetyana Berezhna said.

“You talked about numbers and forecasts, and I’m sure that many of those present in this room have also heard about 8.6 million additional workers, as the International Labor Organization informed us as a result of its research. The Ministry of Economy conducted a separate study, and we found that we need 4.5 million additional workers in the labor market,” she said at the 10th Kyiv International Economic Forum (KIEF) on Thursday.

Berezhna added that a “huge field” for the cooperation of the government, business, and public organizations is the creation of more programs that will help Ukrainians to be more competitive in the labor market.

According to her, Ukraine already has retraining programs and vouchers, as well as Coursera and its Reskill training project, which provides 30,000 scholarships.

“But at the same time, this is a drop in the ocean, because in Ukraine there are approximately 8 million economically inactive population within the state. Whether it is people who are not looking for work for certain reasons due to disability, whether it is veterans who have not found themselves on the labor market, or whether it is women who cannot combine family responsibilities and work responsibilities.” – emphasized Berezhna.

Therefore, according to the deputy minister, a huge concentration of work must be done to activate these groups of the economically inactive population.
