The queue of trucks began to grow at the Ukrainian-Polish border

Date:

On the border with Poland, queues of trucks began to grow in connection with the suspension of all Ukrainian carriers from 00:00 on July 1, Vice-President of the Association of International Carriers of Ukraine (AsMAP) Volodymyr Balin told the Interfax-Ukraine agency.

According to him, if the situation is resolved in the first half of the day on Monday, there will not be a critical accumulation of motor vehicles.

“So far, there are no queues at the border with Poland. If, as we hope, the issue will be resolved by the end of the day and the cars will leave, then a critical situation will not occur. At all Polish highways, the queue is no longer than one day, but as we observe, at 7:00 a.m. there were 68 cars at the “Krakivets-Korchova” expressway, and now – 127. New trucks continue to arrive,” said Balin.

The vice-president of AsMAP believes that the situation on the Polish border is to blame for a technical failure.

“However, we do not rule out that this is a failure prepared by someone,” he emphasized, noting that the stoppage of trucks at the Polish border was a complete surprise for the carriers.

Earlier it was reported that Poland suspended the passage of Ukrainian trucks due to the lack of permits for international cargo transportation.

The Ministry of Reconstruction announced that it had informed the European Commission about the suspension of traffic on Polish highways. Deputy Minister Serhiy Derkach clarified that the agreement on the liberalization of freight transportation between Ukraine and the EU entered into force on the day of signing on June 20. At the same time, according to him, there is a transitional period until July 10, which allows carriers to adapt to the new rules.

“Transport visa-free”, which was due to expire on June 30, 2024, was extended until June 30, 2025 and for another six months on the condition that “none of the parties will declare their disagreement on the basis of convincing and clear evidence of violations in the road transport market “.

The agreement on transport visa-free was signed by Deputy Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine Serhiy Derkach and EU Commissioner for Transport Adina Velyan. The updated document contains a safeguard clause that allows the agreement to be suspended in certain geographic areas where serious violations are recorded in the road transport market.
