The Security Service of Ukraine neutralized a large-scale criminal group that specialized in schemes for evaders, as a result of comprehensive measures in the Kyiv and Kharkiv regions, 14 criminals involved in the schemes were detained.
“According to the case materials, the defendants helped evaders to escape from the draft on the basis of false documents of military medical commissions. For this purpose, the members of the criminal group set up underground printing houses in their own homes, where they produced fake VLK certificates regarding unfitness for service due to health. The perpetrators submitted ready-made fakes to the TCC for the removal of evaders from the military registration,” it reads. in the notification of the SBU on friday
The cost of such services ranged from $8,000 to $12,000 per client. According to the available data, the involved parties earned more than UAH 40 million in this way.
According to reports, to find potential participants in the scheme, the plots used personal connections, in particular among active military personnel who were trying to illegally commission themselves from the service.
SBU employees documented the criminal actions of the persons involved and detained them at their places of residence. During the searches, more than 1,000 medical certificates and forms of military registration documents, intended for men who tried to avoid military service, were seized from them. In addition, 250 forged seals and stamps, as well as funds, probably obtained through criminal means, were seized.
14 detainees were notified of suspicion under the following articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Part 3 of Art. 28, Part 1 of Art. 114-1 (obstructing the legal activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations committed by a group of persons following a prior conspiracy); Part 2 of Art. 28, Part 3 of Art. 369-2 (abuse of influence committed by a prior conspiracy by a group of persons); Part 4 of Art. 409 (evasion of military service by self-sacrifice or in another way, committed under martial law).
An investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime. Perpetrators face up to 10 years in prison. Comprehensive measures are underway to bring to justice all persons involved in the scheme.
