The weighted average price of electricity per RDW in the UES of Ukraine in 2021 increased by 54% to UAH 2,062.95/MWh

The weighted average price of electricity on the day-ahead market on the “United Energy System (UES) of Ukraine” trading platform last year was UAH 2,062.95/MWh, having increased by 5.81% compared to 2020. reported in the report of JSC “Market Operator” on the work of RDV and VDR (intraday market) in 2021.

In turn, the price index of e/e base load (BASE) for RDV in the UES of Ukraine for 2021 is UAH 1,802.18/MWh, having increased by 39.3%.

At the same time, in the Burshtyn energy island, the weighted average price and the BASE index, based on the results of the previous generation, increased by 15.28% (up to UAH 1,865.06/MWh) and by 18.24% (up to UAH 1,753.13/MWh), respectively.

“The year 2021 for the RDV and VDR market was marked by the volatility of price indices and weighted average prices for electricity in the UES of Ukraine and a slight decrease in trading volumes,” the report states.

In particular, the minimum value of the base load price index for RDV in the UES of Ukraine was recorded on July 4 at the level of UAH 377.99/MWh, the maximum was observed on November 29 – UAH 3,220.54/MWh.

In 2021, the volume of trading on the “Market Operator” site was 27.4% of the total electricity consumption in Ukraine, having decreased compared to 2020 by 2 percentage points (p.p.). At the same time, the total volume of e/e trades on the RDV amounted to 35,762.13 GWh, which is 2.6% less than in 2020.

15.62% less electricity was accepted in the VDR than in 2020 – 5,058.31 GWh.

“Compared to the base load price indices on similar trading platforms of neighboring European countries, the BASE price indices both in the UES of Ukraine and in the Burshtyn energy island, especially in the second half of 2021, were significantly lower,” the “Market Operator” reported.

As follows from the company’s report, during the past year the monthly base load price indices in the UES of Ukraine were lower in the range: from 18.7% (in November) to 58.2% (in May) of the corresponding index in Poland, from 0.7 % (in February) to 60.2% (in December) – Romania, from 6.1% (in February) to 62.7% (in December) – Hungary and from 5.4% (in February) to 60, 5% (in December) – Slovakia.
