Ukraine received 100 new unique medical off-road vehicles to restore the national system of disaster medicine

Date:

The Swiss charitable association Free Ukraine is completing a joint humanitarian project with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine on the development of the national system of disaster medicine.

The last 26 of 100 new Toyota Land Cruiser J78-based ambulances, fully equipped and equipped with the necessary medical equipment, were handed over on February 21. This batch was purchased and transferred to Free Ukraine with the financial support of international partners: Canada-Ukraine Foundation – 11 cars, AstraZeneca company – 5 cars and the Embassy of Ukraine in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Free Ukraine – 10 cars.

New cars – unique all-wheel drive Toyota Land Cruiser J78 SUVs are designed to work in difficult conditions and have high cross-country ability. They are easy to maintain, have a large fuel tank, so they do not require refueling within 1000 kilometers. The diesel engine and the absence of complex electronics make them reliable in use. Due to the high ground clearance, these vehicles will help to reach remote areas off-road to provide emergency medical assistance.

“We realized this project thanks to the dedication and joint efforts of our partners. These 100 high-speed vehicles strengthen the capabilities of emergency medicine and disaster medicine and are already saving lives every day,” says the president of the Free Ukraine association, Hanna Lysenko.

“As of now, the occupiers have destroyed, damaged, seized more than 560 ambulances. Meanwhile, shelling of medical facilities and “ambulances” continues. Arriving on time to the call, taking the injured person to the hospital, providing him with the necessary medical assistance on the way, is saving someone’s life. Therefore, emergency vehicles and evacuation vehicles are one of the primary needs! Thank you for them!” – says Maria Karchevych, Deputy Minister of Health for Digital Development.

In total, the project for 100 new cars was financed by Free Ukraine in partnership with international organizations: the Embassy of Ukraine in the United Kingdom of Great Britain, the World Health Organization, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Commonwealth of Nations of Great Britain, charitable organizations British-Ukrainian Aid, Aide Médicale et Caritative France-Ukraine, Yellowblue Force Foundation, Canada-Ukraine Foundation and AstraZeneca with the support of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

The project also received priority attention from the Embassy of Ukraine in Switzerland within the framework of growing humanitarian cooperation between the governments of Ukraine and Switzerland.
