Ukraine’s energy industry must adapt to the constant terror of the Russian Federation – Zelenskyi

Date:

The task of Ukraine in the energy sector is to adapt to the constant threat of terrorist attacks by the Russian Federation, to build protection of the energy system based on such a situation, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

“On protection. Colossal work has been done. We will not disclose any details. A closed appendix to this section of the Resilience Plan will contain information with appropriate access to maintain control over the processes. The task is clear. Thanks to all forms of protection, adapt to the constant threat of Russian terror. The responsibility for fulfilling this task is personal,” the Head of State emphasized in the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday during the presentation of the Sustainability Plan.

According to the president, in general, the Russian army has already carried out more than a thousand attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities.

“900 targeted Russian attacks against electricity transmission facilities. Over 220 targeted Russian attacks against generation facilities,” he said, adding that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has occupied almost 18 GW of energy capacity in Ukraine.

Zelenskyi emphasized that the item on energy is the most closed “due to Russia’s criminal desire to throw Ukraine into a blackout”, but Ukrainians are doing everything to oppose such plans.

“So, the item “Energy” is what gives any modern country viability. This is a special point of the Sustainability Plan. For security reasons, even less can be said about energy than about the front. The most important thing is gratitude. To each repair team. To all employees of our Ukrainian energy companies. To everyone in the world who helps Ukraine to overcome the consequences of Russian attacks on our energy sector,” the president said.
