The exposition represents the diversity of different schools of Ukrainian painting, which is united by love for the beauty of our country.
In the “Ukrainian Colors” project, New Art Gallery presents more than 50 works from the gallery’s collections. These are the works of painters, scenographers, graphic artists, icon painters and sculptors.
The chronological boundaries of the presented works cover the time from the 18th to the 20th centuries.
On the works of art, you can see Ukrainian everyday life and genre scenes, Cossacks, Dnipro landscapes, Petrykiv painting.
Among the authors are the outstanding painter and icon painter Ivan Yizhakevich, who studied at the icon painting workshop of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra and the art school of Mykola Murashka, participated in the restoration of frescoes in the Cyril Church, the painting of the All Saints Church and the Intercession Church, the painter Hryhoriy Svitlytskyi, who became the first People’s Artist of the Ukrainian SSR , one of the founders of the Lviv Art School, Roman Selskyi, a Ukrainian representative of the direction of magical realism, his student Karlo Zvirynskyi.
