WHO provided necessary humanitarian aid to 692 health care institutions of Ukraine in 25 regions, – Ministry of Health

The World Health Organization (WHO) is day by day increasing supplies of humanitarian aid to Ukraine, whose medical system has suffered catastrophic destruction as a result of the war unleashed by Russia.

“From the first days of the war, WHO supported the Ukrainian medical system, so millions of citizens and thousands of health care facilities in various regions of the country are already provided with the necessary equipment and medicines they need,” said the Deputy Minister of Health for of digital development Maria Karchevych.

Thus, from the very beginning of the large-scale aggression, the WHO ensured the delivery of medical equipment, consumables and spare parts and the provision of relevant training in key areas in Ukraine.

In particular, the following was delivered:

  • 33 ambulances for intensive care units in 11 regions;
  • 64 generators in 8 regions;
  • 255 external fixation devices for fracture immobilization;
  • 13 AutoPulse resuscitation systems;
  • 39 portable devices for defibrillation;
  • 550 patient monitors;
  • 59 portable ventilation systems;
  • 176 VRAR ventilators;
  • 30 mobile tents;
  • 3 PSA generators for on-site production of medical oxygen;
  • 500 portable oxygen concentrators;
  • 5,000 sets of consumables for oxygen therapy;
  • 75 sets of electrocardiograph sets and laptops;
  • 1527 glucometers;
  • 500 thermometers;
  • 12,016 blood collection kits and 30,000 blood transfusion kits.

Medical goods totaling 1,374 tons and worth 36 million US dollars were sent to 692 health care facilities in 25 regions of the country.

In particular:

  • traumatological kits were delivered to 88 institutions and provided the opportunity to provide assistance to more than 38,000 people;
  • equipment for providing basic emergency care was sent to 76 facilities and provided the necessary assistance to 5.6 million people;
  • means for PIIK and PPE against chemical substances — for 148 institutions;
  • insulin — for 107 institutions;
  • medicinal products — for 64 institutions;
  • goods for providing assistance in case of injuries — for 15 institutions;
  • 2,304 medical backpacks with means to provide assistance for serious injuries;
  • 8,323 WHO first aid kits for gunshot wounds;
  • complex sets of medical products — for 220 institutions.
