Date:

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi arrived in Donetsk region on Wednesday together with the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi and the newly appointed Commander of the Joint Forces Andriy Hnatov.

“Daughter. Together with our soldiers, together with Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi and the new commander of the United Forces, General Hnatov… listened to reports directly from the positions”, – stated the president in a video message.

Zelenskyi introduced Brigadier General Hnatov to all those responsible for defense in the Donetsk region.

According to the head of state, “he is a young man, but his knowledge of the front and his experience are exactly what is needed. The task for General Hnatov is obvious – to destroy the occupier and protect as many lives of our soldiers as possible.”

The President also held a detailed meeting on security and support for people in the region. “And in terms of providing life – water, social issues, evacuation, and in terms of defense assistance, and in terms of housing restoration. I am grateful to everyone who is 100% doing everything so that our Donetsk region can survive,” he said, adding that he also met with soldiers of the 110th and 47th brigades and combat medics.

As Zelensky emphasized, after returning to Kyiv, he will hold a separate conversation, in particular with government officials, “who should be both here and in other places near the front – in difficult communities where people need immediate solutions.”

“Solutions that are simply not visible from Kyiv. And he was surprised that some specialized officials were not here for six months or more. I will draw appropriate conclusions about them,” he noted.
