Orban held a meeting with Erdogan

Date:

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced on his X page that on July 10 he met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as part of his “peacekeeping mission”.

“Washington. My meeting with the President of Turkey has just ended. The most important topic was, of course, the Russian-Ukrainian war, which, as expected, entered a new phase – more brutal than ever,” he said in a video message.

Orbán emphasized that this is why the world should discuss peace and peace initiatives.

The head of the Hungarian government added that since the beginning of the full-scale war, Turkey has proven that it is an indispensable player in the peace process.

“I asked the President of Turkey to support our efforts to achieve peace. The positions of the warring parties are still very far from each other, but if the supporters of peace join the effort, together we can take the next step towards peace,” he concluded.

Earlier we wrote that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban cannot be a “mediator” between Ukraine and Russia, as both sides did not ask him for such a service.
