More than a million people have received help from the mobile medical brigades of the Ukrainian Army since the beginning of the war

Date:

Since the beginning of the full-scale aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine (February 24, 2022), more than a million people have received primary medical care from specialists of the mobile medical teams of the Ukrainian Red Cross (UCC).

“Currently, 124 mobile medical teams of the Ukrainian Red Cross regularly make trips to the most remote settlements of the country, where people have limited access to medical services,” the Ukrainian Red Cross said in Facebook on Wednesday.

UChH recalled that the first mobile medical teams appeared in 2015 and worked in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, providing primary medical care to residents of the war-affected regions. After the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, the need for mobile medical teams increased dramatically, as many people evacuated to small settlements in the country, where access to medical services was limited, and in many communities the medical infrastructure was damaged or completely destroyed.

“So that people could receive high-quality medical services, the activities of mobile medical teams were quickly scaled up throughout the country. And already in April 2022, mobile medical teams made their first trips to the newly de-occupied Kyiv region,” the UChH noted.

Specialists of mobile medical teams provide consultations, conduct patient examinations, prescribe treatment, transport people to hospitals, and help victims at emergency response sites. Their main task is to provide timely medical assistance where there are no medical facilities or access to them is difficult.
