The American magazine Forbes has published a ranking of the highest paid world leaders. The rating was headed by: the Prime Minister of Singapore, the President of Switzerland and the Prime Minister of Australia. About this writes Forbes, based on data from PoliticalSalaries.com.

The Prime Minister of Singapore, Lawrence Wong, topped the ranking of the highest-paid world leaders with an annual salary of $1.69 million. Viola Amherd, President of Switzerland, has an annual income of over $570,000. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese earns $413,000 a year, which is $400,000 more than US President Joe Biden.

Taking a different approach to determining the highest paid leaders relative to their countries’ economic success, Kenyan President William Rutto in 2023 earned the equivalent of nearly 2,000% of his country’s GDP per capita. At the average exchange rate of 2023, Rutto earned the equivalent of $126,000.

Among the world leaders with the lowest salary was the president of Sri Lanka with $3,900 (only 25% of GDP per capita). The rating is affected by exchange rate fluctuations. For example, the salary of the President of Nigeria in August 2024 was only $2,200 due to the depreciation of the local currency.

Bloomberg experts recently updated the ranking of the richest people on the planet Bloomberg Billionaires Index. As of October 2024, the list of the richest people on the planet is led by: Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, whose fortune has increased in a record time, Jeff Bezos, Bernard Arnault and Larry Ellison.
