Stefanchuk sees no reason to reformat the coalition

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk sees no reason to reformat the parliamentary coalition.

“As far as I know, the Servant of the People faction still has a sufficient number of people, and there is a reserve of those people who continue to be in this hall and vote all the necessary laws for Ukraine,” Stefanchuk said at a briefing on Thursday, answering a question about a possible reformatting of the coalition.

According to him, the Ukrainian parliament “for five years, and especially for the last almost three years, has been passing a very important maturity exam.”

“On the first day of the full-scale war, I appealed to all factions and groups: by the end of the war, we should have one faction in the name of Ukraine. I will appreciate it very much if my colleagues from other factions adhere to this principle,” said the speaker.

Speaking about the deputies who left Ukraine abroad during the war, Stefanchuk recalled that on February 24, 2022, he ended the first session of the martial law parliament with the words: “He who fled is a traitor.”

“My position has not changed since then. I believe that every deputy who chose to live in another country instead of supporting the interests of Ukraine in this difficult time is a traitor to the Ukrainian people… And this is my deep conviction,” said Stefanchuk.

He emphasized that people’s deputies who illegally left Ukraine should be held responsible.
