Zelensky: Ukraine will work with any US president, regardless of the election results

Date:

Ukraine is ready to continue working with any presidentwho will be chosen by the people of the United States, said President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi in an interview with media representatives of Northern Europe in response to a question about expectations from the results of the American elections.

“Ukraine will work, as I think the whole world, with any president elected by the US people. Of course, we hope that the US policy will not change and that they will continue to support us. Because when we talk about US politics, it’s not just the White House. It’s Congress, it’s the Senate, it’s bipartisan support that we’ve had — it’s a lot of different voices. This is good,” explained Zelensky.

He recalled that during the entire period of Russian aggression against Ukraine, US policy did not change for the most part, and Ukraine had the support of Republicans, Democrats, and the general public in the US, as the American people understand that Ukrainians fight not only for themselves, but also for common values of democracy and freedom.

“I hope that there will not be a complete change, but, of course, no one knows that. Could it be? Yes. Does it depend on us? No. It depends on the leader chosen by the people of the United States,” the president emphasized.

He also noted that in case the US support really decreases after the election of a new president, Ukraine will continue to strive for victory, relying on itself and the unity of Europe.
