A 39-year-old man will appear before the court, who, according to the investigation, attacked Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen on Friday, June 7.

The law enforcement officers clarify that the 39-year-old suspect will appear before the court for preliminary interrogation in connection with the attack on the prime minister. Police have not said anything about the man’s motive or whether he was carrying a weapon.
The Danish Prime Minister’s office reported that Frederiksen was taken to the hospital for examination after the attack. According to them, she is fine and shocked by the incident.
All of the Prime Minister’s official events on Saturday were canceled, her office said.
The attack took place two days before the elections to the European Parliament. Frederiksen campaigned together with Social Democrat EU candidate Christel Schaldemose ahead of the EU parliamentary elections.
