In the first half of the year, Ukrainian clinics performed 283 organ transplants

283 organ transplants were performed in 24 Ukrainian transplant centers in the first half of 2024, the Ukrainian Transplant Coordination Center (UTC) reported on its Facebook page.

The report specified that, in particular, 187 kidney transplants, 55 liver transplants, and 41 heart transplants were performed during this period. At the same time, 67% of transplants were carried out using organs from posthumous donors.

Doctors of the First Medical Association of Lviv, the National Center of Surgery and Transplantation named after Shalimov and the Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health.

The largest number of brain death diagnoses was made in Kyiv (20), Lviv (11) and Vinnytsia (5) medical institutions.

According to the information of the Ukrainian Center for Transplantation, there are currently 3,212 patients on the national waiting list, 2,077 of them need a kidney transplant, 523 require a liver transplant, 507 require a heart transplant, and 41 require a lung transplant.
